About Me

Hi..My name if Arfian. I’m studying English and try to know why “enough” could be as simple as “ i’naf ”. I live in Yogyakarta. It’s about 10 km southward from Prambanan Temple.

Did you know the legend of Candi Prambanan (Prambanan temple)?

I’ll tell you a bit about the story. The local resident believes that Candi Prambanan was constructed in just one night by Bandung Bondowoso. Yes, one night. The story goes like this.

Once upon a time, Bandung Bondowoso fallen in love with a real beautiful girl, Loro Jonggrang. She was the daughter of Ratu Boko, whose palace was situated on Ratu book hill, to the south of Prambanan temple. Actually Loro jonggrang didn’t love him but when Bandung Bondowoso asked for her hand in marriage, Loro Jonggrang agreed. She gave a condition that been predicted Bondowoso would never be able to get over it. Yes, she asked him to build that Candi Prambanan with its a thousand statues in just a single night, begin in evening and should have been finished before the dawn. Undeterred by the request, Bandung Bondowoso took up the seemingly impossible challenge and, when the evening came, he set to work. As the result of his extra ordinary magical power the Candi began to take the shape rapidly and by 3 o’clock in the morning, it was almost finished. Knowing that her prerequisite was almost done, and that means she has to fulfill her promise marrying the suitor, Loro Jonggrang then made the dawn came faster. She gathered the villagers especially women to begin pounding the rice. The sound made by this activity woke the roosters up. And they began to crowing sign that the night is over and a new day had begun. Bandung Bondowoso had only one more statue to complete the requirement at the moment. Knowing that he have been tricked by Loro Jonggrang, he then cursed the princes Loro Jonggrang into his last statue with the image of Durga which now stands on the northern chamber of the main temple of Prambanan.
